Shooting for The Stars
A 2-minute crayon-textured hand-drawn 2D animated short. Animated in Toon Boom Harmony, and storyboards and layouts in Procreate and Storyboard Pro. I worked on a team of 10 to create this short. My responsibilities for this project included being: A Storyboard Artist, Color Script Artist, Layout Artist, Rough Animator, Cleanup Animator, Digital Ink and Paint Artist, Effects Animator, and Compositor. This short, from concept to completion, was created in 9 weeks.
The Film
A bright-eyed mouse goes stargazing with his friend the pigeon. The mouse wanted to meet a star himself, and sees "rockets" taking off into the sky. His friend, the cautious pigeon, stays behind to see that those "rockets" are actually fireworks that explode in the sky! The mouse lights one and hops on, and the pigeon flies to save his friend. The firework explodes, and lo and behold, the mouse's dream comes true. He meets a star, and his pigeon friend catches and helps them land safely.

The Pigeon looks up to see that the "rockets" his mouse friend just hopped on explode. He looks up, horrified at this realization, then down at his friend, the mouse.

The mouse happily waves off to the pigeon before lighting the firework. He jumps on while the firework takes off, holding on for dear life.
